We designed the first AI-assisted information platform for schools to help teachers support student care and growth
Caterham School (UK) created CHIP, an internal platform for teachers to track student performance and well-being. It enables teacher to record and share information about students, enabling a more personalized approach to meet individual student needs.
Our main challenge was to emphasize the most important insights for teachers and revamp the platform to be usable in other schools, not just Caterham School.
After extensive research on CHIP’s applications and identifying teachers’ unmet needs, we redesigned, prototyped, and validated the enhanced CHIP platform.
User needs research
We spoke with different school staff members responsible for student well-being and academic results to identify applicable use cases for the CHIP platform and discover their unmet needs.
Visual identity design
Design of a cohesive visual identity for the platform that aligns with its purpose. This includes establishing consistent visual guidelines, such as typography, colors, and icons.
Digital product design
Revamped the platform to improve user experience for different user types. Streamlined information architecture and utilized generative AI to highlight the most relevant data insights.
Prototyping and validation
Prototyping the key user experiences and validating those with the target users to ensure their effectiveness and usability.
Visual identity
We based the identity on an asterisk; symbolising comprehensive and wholesome student information CHIP provides.
Teacher dashboard
Overviewing all important student information for teachers and administrators at a glance.
Creating CHIP notes
Giving teachers the ability to create and share notes ensuring right people will see them at the right time.
AI-assistant
An AI in the background is helping teachers with overviewing student cases and giving additional info.
