Best Beginnings approached us to redesign their pregnancy app that empowers and educates parents, co-parents and caregivers.
We designed an engaging and accessible user experience that makes navigating the complexities of pregnancy and parenthood easier — taking into particular consideration often invisible groups such as single mothers, underprivileged parents, and non-traditional parents.
Baby Buddy provides a personalized guide to pregnancy, lets parents record baby growth, vaccinations and developmental milestones, choose maternity and get help over a helpline — all integrated with UK National Health Service’s system.
To support parent well-being, Baby Buddy’s Healthier Habits helps parents build better habits for a healthier pregnancy and family life.

Based on the academic research, we designed a habit builder explicitly tailored for new parents to enter this new stage of their lives with better habits for a healthier pregnancy and family life
Onboarding
Onboarding lets parents quickly join, add pregnancy and connect with the UK NHS. Parents can invite co-parents and caretakers (with content tailored to them) and create shared spaces
Pregnancy guide
Baby Buddy guides parents through every week and day of their pregnancy with personalized bite-sized content, timely action points and checklists
Record developments
The app is the single place to record all developments during the pregnancy, like growth, medical appointments, and even bump selfies
Virtual assistant
The Buddy assistant answers questions during pregnancy, also offering access to an expert-run helpline. Parents can customize Buddy’s look to their liking, with thousands of combinations of skin colors, hairstyles and facial features
Building healthier habits
Research shows that life-changing events such as pregnancy open a unique window of opportunity when building new habits is more accessible than usual. With that in mind, we designed a habit builder tailored to new parents
